Oix-Begèt-Camprodon

Via Girona A7, direction nord  exit Banyoles and Besalu you drive to Oix, which is behind Banyoles.  Besalu is particularly worth a visit, it is one of the three national monumental villages of the province! Very special is the impressive access bridge. You are not allowed to enter the village by car.

From Besalá you continue to Oix. Please note, in Oix you have to drive to the right behind the church (very tight!) and then follow the small sign Begèt. You come on a country road. Then you just keep following the road towards Beget. A beautiful drive!

Eventually you will end up in the small, picturesque Begèt. Here, a visit to the famous Romanesque church (one of the most important Romanesque buildings in Europe!) is highly recommended. Incidentally, you can also eat well in Begèt. Restaurant ‘Can Jeroni’ is an absolute must. If you are already late, go back now via the same route.

Do you drive away very early? Are you skipping Besalu ? Then you can do the following: You go from Begèt to Camprodon. You are already in the “winter sports area”. From Camprodon you can return via Sant Pau de Seguries, Olot and finally Santo Coloma de Farners .

Cadaqués/Cap de Creus/Dalí

The most beautiful part of Catalunya. You drive via Rosas to Cadaqués, a very picturesque village in the north of the Costa Brava. Then you can also visit the  house of the famous Salvador Dali in the adjacent Port Lligat (see signs at the beginning of the village: “Casa S. Dali / Port Lligat”).” Please book in advance. Finally, you can eat at sunset at the most beautiful view of the Costa Brava; the terrace of restaurant ‘Cap de Creus’ in the nature reserve of the same name!

The Cap de Creus nature reserve  is very special and a walking tour should actually be mandatory…. also very worth visiting are the villages of La Selva de Mar and Portbou.

Festivals and markets

Always worthwhile are the many village festivals and special markets, ‘Feria’s’. There are also often music festivals in the villages and cities. In the local newspaper “El Punt” there is an agenda on the second to last page every day. There are also the daily walking tours, city / village walks etc.

Typical summer festivals are:

  • White Summer festival in Pals (August)
  • Festa Major Vidreres (first week september)
  • Blanes professional firework festival
  • San Jordi 21 june
  • Ask Sytze for more..
