☀️ Weather in Catalonia and Around Can Negrell
Catalonia enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate, with long, warm summers and mild, wet winters. But thanks to its diverse geography — from coastal plains to mountain peaks — the weather can vary significantly from one place to another, even over short distances.
In Vidreres, where Can Negrell is located, the weather tends to be slightly warmer and drier than along the nearby Costa Brava coastline. This is due to a modest mountain ridge that acts as a natural barrier, creating a kind of microclimate around the village. Temperatures in Vidreres can often be 2 to 3 degrees warmer than in Lloret de Mar or Blanes, especially in the early morning and late evening.
Around 13:00, you’ll often notice a pleasant breeze picking up — a reliable pattern caused by the daily thermal winds. This gentle wind brings welcome relief on hotter days and makes afternoon hikes more enjoyable.
To the west of Can Negrell, the Montseny Massif rises with peaks over 1,700 meters. It’s a fantastic destination for hiking, but keep in mind that the weather in the Montseny mountains can be much cooler, cloudier, and more unpredictable — especially in the spring and autumn. Always check the local mountain forecast before heading into the higher trails.
On clear winter days, you can even spot the snow-covered Pyrenees in the distance from the garden at Can Negrell. While you enjoy the sun in your t-shirt, those peaks can be wrapped in deep snow — a beautiful reminder of how dramatically Catalonia’s weather can change across regions.
